The Brazilian has been vital to the Reds’ success in recent years.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker confirmed his loyalty to the club, saying he never considered leaving the Merseyside team despite large offers from Saudi Arabia.Alisson joined Liverpool in 2018 after the FIFA World Cup and quickly became one of the team’s key players.
He was the goalkeeper when Liverpool won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and other hard-to-get titles.
The Brazilian wants to keep playing for the Reds because he and his family are very happy living in England.
“I want to respect my contract and finish it here or maybe sign a new one,” said Alisson, whose current deal ends in 2026 with Liverpool having the option to add another year. “Why stay? I am really happy here. My family is happy.
“I never talked about money. There was just interest, but when you hear about the amounts other players are getting in Saudi Arabia, it’s a bit tempting. That’s normal.
“I never thought about leaving. When the interest from Saudi Arabia came, I couldn’t completely ignore a big offer.
“But my choice was always to stay and focus on what we can do, this new beginning and fresh start, and I’m really excited about that. We’re starting anew with fresh energy and looking forward to what this season will bring us.
“If the club wants to talk about it, then it would be a different discussion. Right now, during this transfer window, I’m focused on my job here and my life in Liverpool.”
Liverpool have started planning for life after Alisson by looking at Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili as his future replacement.
“I think the club needs to prepare for the future. We won’t be here forever; I’m getting older,” Alisson said.
“But for a goalkeeper, I’m still young, full of energy, and I still have a lot to give to this club, and I want to give as much as I can.
“I think it’s a good idea. I knew about that (Mamardashvili) before it was on social media, and that’s a good sign for me because the club cares about what I think.”
